Manufacturing/Quality Engineer
Job Duties
Provide quality assurance support to manufacturing in assigned areas, including processes/procedures, product defects, and/or product testing.
Lead continuous improvement projects to improve quality, reduce reject rates and improve reliability and consistency of internal and external products.
Review and analyze process data results for continuous improvement and implement changes to any process within the organization.
Create and follow-up on non-conformities (internal and external) and communicate with pertinent stakeholders.
Provide support for incoming and outgoing materials and product quality. Coordinate audits and implement corrective and preventative action plans.
Analyze Cost of Quality related to supplier defects and internal focus factories.
Maintain and enforce safe work practices and ensure all employees adhere to environmental, safety, and health standards.
Lead or Co-lead Kaizen events.
Audit shop environment in accordance with 6S methodologies.
Perform quality inspections as necessary using various inspection tools.
Use lean manufacturing tools (Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why’s, Ishikawa diagrams, Pareto, Process Mapping, Poka-Yoke) to resolve issues.
Audit new and existing suppliers to ensure compliance with processes, procedures and requirements, including APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
Plan and design methods to improve production processes. Provide product/process support and technical troubleshooting.
Develop, implement and manage supplier corrective actions, PPAP, and supplier quality process tracking system. Coordinate corrective action(s) related to supplier non-conforming materials or other issues.
Perform and review capability and gauge studies on both new and existing products.
Create SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and ensure the SOP’s remain current. Work with design engineering if changes to SOP’s are needed. Inform production team of changes to SOP’s.
Manage cost/time constraints of various projects. Work with manufacturing leadership to identify and resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, equipment, and product design.
Create and sustain a positive atmosphere on the production floor.
May travel to supplier locations as required.

Work/Education Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or other related degree required. Equivalent combination of education and experience required, in lieu of degree.
0-5+ year’s experience as a Quality and/or Manufacturing Engineer. Experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment preferred.
Knowledge/experience with ISO 9001 and 14001 standards highly preferred.
Experience working with suppliers and resolving quality issues.
Experience implementing corrective actions and resolving customer problems preferred.
Experience working in a 5/6S environment preferred.
Must possess excellent communication, computer, decision making, problem solving, organizational and analytical skills.
Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to respond to changing priorities.
Must be able to effectively work as a team, communicate with all levels of personnel and work with minimal supervision.
Must be willing to travel up 5% of the time.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
Experience with SAP ERP/MRP software preferred.
Ability to analyze data and prepare and present reports to management.
Metrology knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of Lean principles and Quality Core tools (APQP, PFMEA, etc.) preferred.
Must have the ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics and possess troubleshooting skills related to equipment and processes.
Experience/knowledge of CAD (3D drafting preferred).
